Employee Spotlight: Johannes Schuster
Johannes Schuster has been Head of Training for Vetropack's Austrian sites in Pöchlarn and Kremsmünster since 2013, although he has been with Vetropack since 1987, when he started as a mould-fitter working in shifts. In 2000, he was faced with the choice of either training as a music teacher at the conservatory or continuing his education to become a master metalworker. He opted for the latter, becoming leader in the mould shop and then apprentice trainer.
As apprentice supervisor, he is responsible for the theoretical and practical training of apprentices, recruiting new talent, liaising with vocational schools and colleges, and ensuring participation in apprentice competitions. He was also instrumental in introducing the glass process technician apprenticeship for the hollow and flat glass industry in Austria.
He appreciates working with the young people, who complete part of their training at the company's own training workshops in Pöchlarn and Kremsmünster: "Working with the apprentices keeps me physically and mentally fit," says Johannes Schuster: “I enjoy teaching the young people and following their careers in the company. Even fully trained skilled workers who leave our company appreciate their training at Vetropack and say goodbye to me personally before they move on to another company.”
Johannes Schuster's passion for training is also evident in his leisure time, where he enjoys playing music and sailing worldwide - and has been giving sailing courses for many years.
