Ready for your future? Your apprenticeship at Vetropack in Austria! Vetropack operates two plants in Austria, in Pöchlarn (Lower Austria) and in Kremsmünster (Upper Austria). We produce glass packaging for distribution in Austria and selected export markets. Apprentices have been trained at both sites since 2018.

Glass process engineer

What will you learn at Vetropack?

Your training will include the production of glass mixtures based on the chemical composition of glass, the processing of various metals for machines and production systems, the maintenance, programming and control of production machines and robots, as well as quality control and assurance.

How long does the training take?

The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years.

What are the requirements?

At least a secondary school diploma, an interest in technology and the ability to understand abstract concepts.

What are the opportunities after the apprenticeship?

We try to employ our apprentices in one of the technical departments after the apprenticeship. Vetropack Holding Ltd also offers international career opportunities.

Electrical engineer

What will you learn at Vetropack?

During your apprenticeship as an electrical engineer you will learn how to assemble, install, maintain and repair a wide range of electrical and electronic equipment and systems. S7 programming and robotics are also part of the curriculum.

How long does the apprenticeship take?

The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years.

What are the requirements?

At least a secondary school diploma, an interest in technology and the ability to understand abstract concepts.

Metal technician

What will you learn at Vetropack?

During your apprenticeship you will work with metal materials such as steel, aluminium, sheet metal, copper or iron and use them to make components and machine parts. You will learn various machining techniques and processes such as drilling, turning, milling and welding. Programming and operating (CNC) machine tools is also part of your training.

How long does the training take?

The apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years.

What are the entry requirements?

At least a secondary school diploma, manual dexterity, tolerance of heat and noise, willingness to work shifts.

What are the opportunities after the apprenticeship?

We try to take on one of our apprentices in each of the technical departments after the apprenticeship. Vetropack Holding Ltd also offers international career opportunities.

Apprenticeship with Matura

Do you offer an 'apprenticeship with Matura' programme?

Yes, we support the combination of practical and theoretical knowledge, giving our apprentices the best possible qualifications.

When does it start? 

You can start in the 2nd year of your apprenticeship. Prerequisite is an honourable mention in the first year of vocational school.

Will the Matura programme extend my apprenticeship?

No, there is no extension of the apprenticeship period.

Can you complete the Matura in any apprenticeship?

Yes, you can complete your Matura in any apprenticeship; we organise the necessary courses during your regular working hours. In each apprenticeship year you will study a different subject: German, Maths, English and a specialist qualification.

Holiday job

What do you learn at Vetropack?

Insight into a manufacturing industrial company, varied manual work in different departments in the factory or office.

How long does the holiday job last?

1-2 months.

What are the requirements?

Minimum age: 16 years, for work at the Hot End you must already be 18 years old.
